Highlights of this tour
- The Lukova Lakes
- The bridge of Golik, part of historic Egnatia Road
- The old tombs of Selca
This tour offers a combination of car travel and hiking. It is a 10 to 11 hours tour with five stops at places of historic and cultural interest and includes a hiking tour of about 8 km at one of the stops.
The day will introduce you to the region of Mokra, famous for it’s traditions, indigenous types of orchards, traditional cuisine, local organic products and traditional costumes.
We will start by car from Pogradec, driving about 38 km to the bridge of Golik. It is the most unique bridge of the region and was built along the traces of the historic Egnatia road in the 17th century. This bridge once connected the Mokra region through the Upper Shkumbin valley with the Domosdova field.
From here our ride goes on and after passing the Terziu bridge we reach the tombs of Selca, situated in the Lower Selca, where five impressive monumental tombs were discovered, that have been built at the end of the 4th century and are unique in Europe.
Driving on to the village of Bishnica we are reaching the starting point for our hiking tour to the Lukova Lakes. From Bishnica we will walk about 8 km and reach the two lakes, that are part of an alpine lake ecosystem with unique flora and fauna.
Here we can enjoy an impressive landscape scenery, before returning to Pogradec.
